I've been doing some preparatory work on my next painting, 'The Wasp and the Ring'.
I'd always imagined that the old nativity models (to symbolise the different characters in my story) would be half covered in sand as if found during an archaeological dig and I duly started making drawings of them in this way.
However, while trying to decide how to place the figures I also got interested in astronomy and astrological signs. I decided to use the shape of Taurus the bull to chart the various points of light as this is Sebastian's birth sign.
So the figures are now floating in the sky with parts of them covered by clouds rather than sand. At least that's the idea at the moment.
